ABOUT OUR Event
As Artistic and General Director of Da Camera of Houston, I would like to thank you for your interest in supporting this year’s gala and silent auction, aptly entitled Art & Soul. Da Camera’s concert series and free outreach to our community through our Beyond the Concert Hall activities represent the very essence of our city’s vibrant arts community. Da Camera offers much to our community: carefully curated concerts connecting music to relevant subjects; the region’s only series dedicated to jazz; and unparalleled hands-on education programs that engage, inspire and inform. Our gala supports these distinctive programs, and I invite you to support Da Camera’s continued success in our city by becoming a part of Art & Soul, Da Camera’s 2012 Gala and Silent Auction.

I am honored and excited to serve as co-chair for Da Camera of Houston’s 2012 Gala, Art & Soul! Having worked in the music industry managing artists and promoting Jazz and Rock & Roll concerts, music has always played an important role in my life. That career began the musical journey that I continue today and allowed me to discover the music of some of the most exciting artists — modern, jazz, rock & roll, and classical musicians. When I moved to Houston in 1986 to begin my new career in the oil and gas industry I was amazed at the vibrant art and music scene in the city, and still am! For many of us Da Camera represents the very best of this scene, the Art & Soul of Houston. It carries us on a journey of discovery with truly world-class chamber music and jazz. Even more special it does so for our children as well. I hope that you will consider joining us in support of Da Camera. I look forward to meeting you at the La Colombe d’Or on February 11, 2012!

The Gala
Da Camera’s Annual Gala and Silent Auction will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at La Colombe d’Or Hotel and Restaurant. Presented in Le Grand Salon de la Comtesse, we are sure that this will be an exquisite evening benefiting Da Camera’s many education and outreach programs that serve more than 10,000 Houstonians every year.
Entitled Art and Soul, this year’s gala begins with a mix of classical and jazz guitar during the cocktail hour. At the same time, guests will enjoy perusing our silent auction full of items exemplifying the art and soul of Houston. In the ballroom, renowned pianist Sarah Rothenberg, Da Camera’s Artistic and General Director, will present a special performance immediately followed by a Texas-inspired menu created by award-winning executive chef of CINQ, Jeramie Robison. Following dinner, guests can return to the silent auction and dance the night away to the sounds of Houston’s favorite rockabilly/swing/blues/boogie band, The Ezra Charles Band. This year for the first time, we will also offer a cigar bar with a fine selection of cordials and liqueurs.
Saturday, February 11 promises to be a night to remember. We encourage you to make your reservations early. As a special thank you to those purchasing $5,000 or $10,000 tables, we are pleased to offer an invitation for two to Da Camera’s exclusive Underwriter Dinner at RDG+Bar Annie on Thursday, January 26, 2012, curated by long-time Da Camera supporter, Executive Chef Robert Del Grande.
