A Little Day Music is a series of free monthly concerts that occur at noon on the first Wednesday of the month. They are designed to deliver Da Camera’s signature programming to an audience of senior citizens and downtown professionals. A Little Day Music features a variety of chamber music and jazz, presented in an accessible one-hour concert format. Audiences are invited to enjoy their lunch while listening to the music.
Stop, Look and Listen! is a free series of chamber music and jazz concerts presented in one of Houston’s most inspiring and stimulating environments, the world renowned Menil Collection art museum. These concerts feature unconventional, interactive formats and fun, adventurous musical selections. Stop, Look, and Listen! programs are often designed to celebrate specific artwork on display in the museum.
Music Encounters is an artist residency program that partners with a variety of classroom teachers throughout the Houston area. The program emphasizes up-close interactions between musicians and students. The program features original lesson plans that explore a wide variety of subjects including English, History, Social Studies, Math and Science. Each lesson plan is designed to help teachers enrich their curricular goals by incorporating live music.
Mentors in Music is Da Camera’s masterclass series which connects guest artists with aspiring student musicians. Most masterclasses are open to the public although some are exclusive to certain school partners, including the major university music departments and public school programs.
Da Camera Goes to Your School is presented in collaboration with Samuel Dinkins, III, a well-respected jazz drummer and music educator and is a collection of hour-long educational jazz concerts. These programs are designed to celebrate cultural diversity while introducing students to jazz.
