About the Program

The Da Camera Young Artist program is chamber music fellowship program for emerging professional instrumentalists, singers and composers.  This program is designed to achieve two goals: 1) Provide career-expanding experiences and training to the next generation of artists, encouraging them to create music for the community throughout their careers, and 2) Offer young students and neglected audiences exposure to great music and talented performers, using music as a vehicle for scholastic exploration and inspiration.

Da Camera Young Artists have participated in an exciting variety of performances, workshops and school visits. They have performed at the Wortham Center, The Menil Collection, HISD schools, even the AvantGarden nightclub. Following Da Camera’s unique approach to sharing music with schools -- the Music Encounters Program -- they have helped HISD students explore language arts, visual arts, history, science and math through live music.

The Da Camera Young Artists for the 2011/2012 season will be announced in September.
