As a Young Artist with Opera Theater Pittsburgh in the summer of 2016, Ms. Love performed Christina in a commissioned chamber opera, The George Washington Suite, by living composer Daron Hagen. While pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Love performed Babs (Hagen’s New York Stories), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Cugina (Madama Butterfly), and Zerlina (Don Giovanni). Ms. Love has also performed Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with The Midwest Institute of Opera as well as several Gilbert and Sullivan roles. She received her Bachelor of Music from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she performed Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Kate Cassidy (Wargo’s Ballymore: Losers). Ms. Love has been named a first-round finalist in the Classical Singer Young Artist Division for several years, and was a Finalist in the Illinois District for NATS.
Ms. Love maintains a private studio of students of all levels of voice and piano, and likes to engage with her community with music-making. While in Austin, Ms. Love provided weekly music classes to the adolescent girls at the Gardner-Betts Juvenile Detention Center, which offered education as well as an outlet for self-expression to students. In the fall of 2016, Ms. Love will be part of Da Camera’s education residency at the Monarch School in Houston. During the 2016/2017 season, Ms. Love will appear in the chorus in four productions at Houston Grand Opera.
