DACAMERA Artists Rack Up Grammy Nominations

Musicians and composers affiliated with DACAMERA’s 2019/2020 season racked up several 2020 Grammy Award nominations when they were announced this week.

Congratulations to composer Julia Wolfe, nominated for a Grammy Award for Fire in My Mouth. DACAMERA presents her Pultizer Prize-winning Anthracite Fields in May.

Saxophonist Miguel Zenon’s latest recording Sonero: The Music of Ismael Rivera was nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album. He comes back to DACAMERA’s jazz series April 17.

Saxophonist Branford Marsalis received two Grammy Award nominations: Best Improvised Jazz Solo and Best Instrumental Jazz Album for The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul. He comes to our stage on January 25. It’s a good year for the Marsalis family, with Branford’s brother Wynton nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for his Violin Concerto in D Major. Fellow nominees for Best Improvised Jazz Solo Melissa Aldana and Christian McBride have both appeared on DACAMERA’s jazz series.

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 26, 2020.
