Douglas DeVries, flute

Douglas DeVries is a founding member of Houston’s newest ensemble the Monarch Chamber Players, core member of contemporary collective Loop38, and DACAMERA Young Artist. Recent highlights include solo performances of Concerti by Mozart, Bach, and Ibert, in addition to guest appearances with the Los Angeles and Louisiana Philharmonic’s, the Florida Grand Opera, the Houston and San Antonio Symphonies, and concert tours to Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms. As a teacher and Houston Community College Adjunct Professor, past students now attend the Universities of Houston, North Texas, Sam Houston State, and the Eastman School. Originally from Los Angeles, Mr. DeVries studied at The Juilliard School and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
