Kyle Comer

Kyle Comer began studying the classical guitar at age nine and has been a top prizewinner in numerous competitions around the U.S., including the University of Colorado’s International Guitar Festival & Competition, and the esteemed Guitar Foundation of America’s International Youth Competition. Mr. Comer has performed for a wide range of audiences in and around Texas, and has had the opportunity to perform in the presence of two former U.S. Presidents. He has been featured on KUHF’s Front Row promoting Guitar Houston and their performances at Jones Hall for the Houston Symphony’s Free Day of Music event showcasing Houston’s diverse musical landscape. Mr. Comer has also been a featured guest artist and teacher at the Summer Guitar Conservatory, a project of Guitar Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free guitar education opportunities for students throughout the greater Houston region. Mr. Comer received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Music Performance, from the University of Texas at Austin, under the tutelage of world-renowned American guitarist Adam Holzman.

Mr. Comer was a member of the University of Texas at Austin UT Guitar Quartet, first place prizewinners at the Texas Hill Country International Guitar Ensemble Festival & Competition, and the Brownsville Ensemble Guitar Festival & Competition. In 2013, the UT Guitar Quartet was selected to perform at the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Convention Ensemble Showcase. Notable performances of the UT Guitar Quartet included Music Among Friends concert series at the historic Moody Mansion in Galveston, Texas, the Civil Rights Summit hosted by the LBJ Presidential Library on the University of Texas Austin campus, and Austin Classical Guitar’s Salon Concert series and Cactus Café series. The UT Guitar Quartet received the University of Texas’ Board of Regents’ Outstanding Student Award in Arts and Humanities for demonstrating musical excellence and commitment to the arts.

Mr. Comer is a native Houstonian and teaches classical guitar lessons at the Music Academy of Houston.
