Beethoven for All: Houston Youth Symphony

Beethoven for All — the complete string quartets for free, in celebration of Da Camera’s 30th anniversary season

A quartet from the Houston Youth Symphony performs String Quartet No. 4 in C Minor, Op. 18, No. 4

James Li, violin; Emily Gladstone, violin; Nicolas Valencia, viola; Kyle Victor, cello

The mission of Houston Youth Symphony (HYS) is to recruit, educate, develop and nurture young musicians and provide them the opportunity to train under professional musicians and perform in professionally conducted concerts. Members of the two most advanced orchestras, the Symphony and Philharmonia, are invited to participate in the HYS Chamber Music Program. Formed into string quartets, woodwind quintets and brass quintets, these ensembles learn how to perform in small groups with one player to a part, develop leadership, public speaking and team building skills and hone their performance mechanics under the direction of skilled chamber music coaches.

This program is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
