The always-adventurous superstar vocalist returns with her newest highly collaborative program, reimagining early music and breathing new life into songs by composers including Henry Purcell and John Dowland. Cécile McLorin Salvant brings together a versatile all-star ensemble of standout improvisers from the worlds of early music and jazz, including acclaimed Avery Fisher Career Grant-winning Baroque flutist Emi Ferguson and Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Sullivan Fortner.
Blending Baroque intimacy with improvisational freedom, the performers reveal how centuries old ayres resonate with the emotional depth of blues and jazz. The result is a spellbinding concert where history, storytelling and modern expression meet.
