Stewart Goodyear has wowed audiences with his powerful technique and wide-ranging repertoire in recent recitals at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Gilmore Festival, as well as concerto appearances with New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
For his “Songbook for Piano,” beloved American composer George Gershwin – who studied with Ravel in Paris – made delightful solo piano arrangements of 18 of his most famous songs, including The Man I Love, Fascinating Rhythm, Do It Again and I Got Rhythm. After this entrancing opening, Goodyear takes on two of the most demanding pieces in the piano repertoire: Ravel’s epic masterpiece and Mussorgsky’s vivid, monumental tour-de-force.
