Ambrose Akinmusire Owl Song featuring Bill Frisell and Herlin Riley

A rare DACAMERA double bill with two of the most exciting headlining jazz artists performing today.

The incomparable Bill Frisell’s career as a guitarist and composer has spanned more than 40 years. Frisell is a six-time Grammy nominee whose “willingness to experiment knows no bounds, and whose genius runs deep” (Downbeat). His newest collaboration doubles up on the bass and drums for a hard-hitting ensemble.

Trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire is one of the most adventurous jazz musicians of his generation. His new all-star ensemble includes Bill Frisell and the grooving New Orleans drummer Herlin Riley. His broad expressive palette will be showcased here as he paints new musical pictures with a genre-defying ensemble.

“Long hailed as one of the most distinctive and original improvising guitarists of our time” – The New York Times

“More than almost any other contemporary improviser, Mr. Akinmusire has invented a way of composing that’s unfixed from jazz’s stickiest conventions.” — The New York Times
